First Day

Welcome Everybody!

Part I

REMINDER:
Please email me your home address so that I can mail the course package to your home.
  1. Entrance: We start at 4:30 but the zoom session will open at 4:20.  When you enter, say what's up.  Everyone who is already in the session: send a shout to the folk coming thru.  Let's greet one another as we enter.  It's a social event, not a class requirement.
  2. My Name: Please call me Carmen (she/her).
  3. We will open with a go-around-the-gallery:
  • Tell us your name, pronoun, and areas of interest.
  • For those with a year or more in the PhD, riddle us this: what do you wish you had known from the very beginning of the PhD program that no one told you?  Talk to us.
  • For those new to TCU or new to this department, riddle us this: what has you most curious, confused, or wondering about the degree right now?  Talk to us.
Come Back at 5:40pm.

Part II
4. Syllabus & Zoom Review
Take 20 minutes to read the syllabus (click here on the website or at the D2L site).  Feel free to mute and leave the screen and wander elsewhere.  Make sure you come back to the screen at the designated time. As you review, jot down questions and comments.  Let's talk the logistics of this course and anything else you want to comment on related to pedagogy.

5. August and September Sign-Up for Individual Meetings: STARTS NEXT WEEK (please try and finalize your meeting schedule by next week)
